We love your laundry

Old Cinema Launderette is a retro-chic, professional, family-run launderette, offering washing, ironing and dry cleaning services to customers in and around the Durham area.

Our Heritage

The tiny Crescent Cinema of Gilesgate Moor, Durham was opened in 1928 with a capacity of 320 seats. In 1941 it changed its name to the Rex under new management. It closed in January 1958, with the last film to grace the screen being the action-packed movie, Eagle Squadron. More than 60 years on, we want to try and bring the Rex back to life. Indeed, if you remember the old Rex, we want to hear your stories. It was a big part of the history of the area, and we hope we can be too!
